Much like a theatre, your restaurant is essentially providing a production of entertainment for your guests, in the form of food, of course.
Your food is the content, your staff are the actors and the restaurant is the setting. So why does tableware matter?
Well lets look at it from ‘outside the box’, you have spent hours training your staff to the standards of your guidelines for your establishment, whether it be formal or informal, the training is still in place to fit the vibe of the restaurant.
You have spent weeks perfecting the menu for each seasonal change, sourcing the correct ingredients to fit your target audiences tastes and expectations.
You have spent months decorating the interior to stand out from competitors and be aesthetically pleasing to the eye….
So why would you let your ‘production’ down at the last hurdle? Tableware is said to be the 3rd most important edition to your restaurant, after food & service. If your ‘theme’ is burgers & smoked meat, your audience will expect tones of wood, metal & earth colour palettes.
French cuisine? Pure white porcelain plates, possibly square. Although some may say a plate is a plate? Or is it? Colour, texture & shape are all things that psychologically the brain picks up sometimes without even noticing.
If you’re a hipster vibe cafe selling only tacos with bright salsas, why wouldn’t you pair your food with dinnerware that is just as dramatic as the dishes you serve?
Whatever your target audience is, match them with dinnerware…trust us. It’s key.
