When we renovated Cringletie House, we made it a fully wheelchair accessible hotel and included a range of disabled facilities quite exceptional for a historic building. This included a ground floor room and en-suite bathroom specifically designed for wheelchair users.

Disabled parking is available close to the entrance with plenty of room for transport with additional space requirements, a wheelchair access ramp outside the house, an easy-to-operate chairlift to the ground floor, and a passenger lift to the first and second floors.

After consulting with the Scottish Deaf Association, we also installed technical equipment in the bedrooms to help guests with impaired hearing feel safe in their beds at night.

Our efforts to create a genuine haven for guests with a disability were recognised in the Cover Story of Venture, the International Magazine for Accessible Travel, and also by Undiscovered Britain who specialise in organising travel for people with a disability. We were named as Top Ten of Accessible Hotels in the UK by a review in the Guardian and won the 2011 Catey Award for Accessibility, a hotel industry award recognising a disabled-friendly hotel that has gone above and beyond the accessibility requirements of the Equalities Act.
