NEW YORK – Sferra, a luxury textile manufacturer, is entering the mattress category with two new mattresses: the 14-inch Sonno Notte Pillow Top and the 13-inch Sonno Notte Luxury Firm, each available with an optional 5-or-9-inch foundation.
The company said its Sonno Notte mattress collection includes premium hybrid mattresses that are made by hand in the U.S. and comprised of nearly 1,000 individually pocketed innerspring coils and layers of cotton, wool and all-natural Talalay latex.
Each mattress is fully tufted by hand and secured with wool rosettes to prevent shifting and settling over time, according to Sferra, which noted that the Luxury Firm mattress offers firm support but is soft enough for side, back or stomach sleepers. The company also said the innerspring system is encased in a double row of outer coils, providing greater edge-to-edge sleeping surface and reduction of the roll-off feeling.
The mattress foundations are made of 18 slats of spruce wood, hand-assembled by the Pennsylvania Amish community and then protected by metal corner guards for longevity.
The mattresses are available in twin, XL twin, full, queen, king and California king sizes, and each mattress features four embroidered handles.
The Luxury Firm twin mattress retails for $3,195 and the California king for $4,295, while the Pillow Top retails for $3,750 for a twin and $4,995 for a California king.
Gennaro Sferra founded the Sferra company in Italy in 1891 and moved the luxury linen company to the U.S. soon after.
